Purchasing Clerk

Job Description

We’re looking for a Purchasing Clerk to support procurement operations. This person is responsible for managing purchases, monitoring inventory, and maintaining relationships with suppliers. They will coordinate the purchase of goods and services while meeting quality, cost, and delays.

Responsibilities – Purchasing Management

  • Ensure follow-ups from purchase order creation to merchandise receipt.
  • Stay alert to opportunities for savings and cost reductions without compromising the quality of goods and services.
  • Implement purchasing optimization initiatives in collaboration with the Supervisor of Supply and Logistics.
  • Collect and analyze purchasing data to track supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery times, and after-sales service.
  • Prepare periodic reports on purchases, savings achieved, and overall supplier performance.
  • Use evaluation grids to assess potential suppliers and recommend those who offer the best quality, cost, and delivery time services.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and resolve potential issues with suppliers.
  • Act as the superuser of our ERP system and provide training to other users.

Responsibilities – Contract Negotiations

  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure favorable purchasing conditions (competitive prices, favorable payment terms, and quality guarantees).
  • Ensure that contracts comply with current regulations and company policies.

Desired profile

  • Diploma in administration, logistics, or a relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Excellent planning skills and a good sense of organization in a constantly growing environment
  • Strong ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
  • Bilingualism (French and English) to communicate with suppliers outside Quebec.
